Conrad, 76, of Davenport died of cancer Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Genesis West Hospital in Davenport. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Halligan-McCabeDe Vries Funeral Home in Davenport. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m.

Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Conrad was born Aug.

25, 1924, in Brighton. He married Victoria Aguirre June 11, 1960, in Davenport. He served in the 159th Combat Engineer Battalion of the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He had been a homebuilder since 1957 and was president of B.B.

Conrad Corp. He was a member of Davenport Elks Lodge No. 298, American Legion Post 26, Homebuilders Association of the Quad Cities, St. Alphonsas Church in Davenport, and the Broad Mountain Chapter of the 159th Engineer Battalion Association. He was a former member of the Davenport Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Ann Marie and Donald Erickson of Bettendorf and Christine and David Swanson of Iowa City; one grandchild; two step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; his mother, Bessie Gail Conrad; and a sister, Barbra Burge, Arlington, Texas. Sharpless was born March 7, 1934, in Atalissa to William and Vera (Petersen) Sharpless. He graduated from Atalissa High School. He married Julia Martinson on Dec. 4, 1954, in Iowa City. She died in 1996.

He was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a hog farmer for many years. In 1972, he and his wife bought Community Auction, now known as Sharpless Auctions. He retired in 1998. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Roxann and Tim Wolfe of Iowa City and Shellie and Bill Peake of West Branch; one son and his wife, Mark and Deanne Sharpless of Iowa City; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a friend, Darlene Feddersen.

An infant daughter, Theresa, and a brother, Kenny, also died Dolores Nehre, 74 Sharpless Dolores Elaine Nehre, 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the Rev. Blair Rohde-Frank officiating.

Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday. The family will be at the funeral home one hour before services. Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Nehre was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Harry Jennings and Veronda Madeline Jay Freshour. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1944. She married Eugene Nehre on May 4, 1947, in Ottumwa.

She worked for the Ottumwa Community Schools for 18 years. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, United and Child Culture Club. Methodist Women, Peace Circle here Survivors include her husband; one daughter and her husband, Karen and James Pregon of Coralville; one son and his wife, Lawrence and Julie Freshour of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; her mother of Coralville; and a brother, Wayne J. Freshour of Iowa City. Her father died earlier.

Michael Reynolds, 55 Reynolds Michael "Mick" Joseph for Reynolds 55, of 2401 Highway 6 East, died a Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at his home of an extended illness. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the George L. Gay Funeral Home Reynolds with the Sister Corine Murray officiating.

Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Mercy Home Health. Mr.

Reynolds was born July 10, 1945, in Iowa City to Arthur Soam and Agnes Mary (Kelly) Reynolds. He married Kay Ekwall on July 17, 1964, in Iowa City. He worked for the Iowa City Water and Sewage Department for several years. was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his former wife; one son, Michael Reynolds Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of lowa City; four daughters, Brenda Nogaj and her husband, Tom, of Fort Lauderdale, Tami Smith and her fiance, Tim Frantz, of Iowa City; Traci Miller and her husband, Jeff, of Iowa City and Sherry Miller and her husband, Ted, of North Liberty; 11 grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Isabelle and Everette Eckrich and Francine and Tom Jacobs, all of Iowa City; and two brothers and their wives, Merwin and Doris Reynolds of San Diego and Gene and Elaine Reynolds of Solon. Mrs. Greene was born Feb. 21, 1908, in Pontiac, to James and Mary E. (Corrigan) Wallace. She married Joseph Cilek on Feb.

14, 1928, in Iowa City. He died in 1966. She later married Kenneth Greene on Feb. 9, 1973, in Iowa City. He died Dec.

9, 1973. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and attended the University of Iowa. She and her husband, Joseph, owned and operated Lenoch Cilek Hardware. She was a member of St.

Thomas More Church, the Altrusa Club, Catholic Daughters of America and the Elks Ladies. She volunteered at her church, Mercy Hospital and University Hospitals. Survivors include one daugh-19 ter, Lynne Parsons of Iowa City; two sons and their wives, Jerry and Cheri Cilek and Tom and Mary Cilek, all of Iowa City; two daughters-in-law, Jean Cilek Adler of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Sally Cilek of Iowa City; one brother and his wife, Jim and Olive Wallace of Iowa City; her stepchildren, Kay Loeffelholz and her husband, Paul, of Iowa City, Galen "Skip" Greene and Ann Lamberson, both of Florida, and Ann Savage; 14 grandchildren and 18 great -grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, two sons, Joe and Jim; one son-inlaw, Red; one stepson, Ty; a brother, Bob, and a sister, Mary, died earlier. Robert Hiemstra, 70 Robert J.

Hiemstra, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids with the Rev.

David A. Young officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Mr.

Hiemstra was born April 12, 1930, in Delta, the son of Theodore and Opal (Landgrebe) Hiemstra. He served in the U.S. Army for four years after World War II. He married Rita M.A. Reiche on Dec.

31, 1953, in Oskaloosa. He had lived in Cedar Rapids since 1956 where he was a machinist at Cherry-Burrell Inc. for 21 years. Survivors include his wife and a sister, Nora-Joy Moore of Colorado Springs, Colo. Lindsey Smith, 15 Lindsey Elizabeth Smith, 15, daughter of Charlotte Smith and Jeff Alberhasky of rural Solon and Rick Smith and LeAnn Johnson of Wilton, died Monday, Jan.

29, 2001, at University Hospitals from complications from meningitis. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Solon United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Funeral Home in Solon.

A memorial fund has been established. Besides her parents, survivors include brothers and sisters Jeremy, Tiffany, Lindsay, Dustin, Alyssa, Whitney and Nathan. A complete obituary will appear in Thursday's paper. Donald Gorsh, 70 Donald L. Gorsh, 70, of Wheatland, died Tuesday, Jan.

30, 2001, at his home after a long ill- ness. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland with the Revs. Barbara Bullock and Sylvia Larsen officiating.

Burial will be in the Long Grove Cemetery in Long Grove. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 a.m. Thursday at the Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. A memorial fund has been established. Mr.

Gorsh was born April 23, 1930, in North English. He worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids before moving to Scott County. He worked as a mechanic and brake specialist for Sears Roebuck for years before opening Don's Auto Repair in Long Grove. He also farmed for several years before retring in 1988. He was a member of the Long Grove Christian Church and a past member of the Davenport Moose.

He coached boys baseball and girls softball in Long Grove, where he helped organize the Southern Wapsi Girls Softball League. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Joan; three daughters and their husbands, Joyce and Delbert King of Walker, Char and William Lingle of Davenport, and Charlene and Dan Burns of Wheatland; three sons, Dale of Cedar Rapids, Victor and his wife, Michele, of Long Grove, and Rick and his wife, Vicki, of Davenport; 16 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Edna Heck and her husband, Arnold, of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Arthur and his wife, Mary, of Iowa City. His parents, four sisters, one brother, one son, three daughters, one daughter-in-law and two grandchildren died earlier. Firefighters responded to two smoke scares Monday: 11:41 a.m. at 1401 S. Gilbert and 12:38 p.m. at 720 Melrose Ave. Firefighters responded to three emergency medical calls Monday: 12:25 p.m.

at 845 Magard 5:32 p.m. at 905 N. Governor and 8:19 p.m. at 528 N. Dubuque St.
