Byerl Baines, 60 Byerl Baines, 60, 33 Hilltop Trailer Court, died Sunday at University Hospital after a long illness. A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at George L. Gay Funeral Home, with burial in Oakland Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Davison will officiate. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday. A general memorial was established. established. Mr. Baines was born July 16, 1932, in Iowa City, to George W. and Minnie (Sexton) Baines. He attended Iowa City schools. He married Wendy Fandrei July 17, 1982, in Iowa City. Survivors include his wife of Iowa City; four daughters, Kim (Mrs. Ted) Hesseltine of Coralville, Coralville, Sam Baines Neuzil of Bettendorf, Jani Kincade of Iowa City and Dee (Mrs. Jeff) Stratton of Homestead; one stepdaughter, Heather West of Maryville, Mo; two stepsons, Ryan and Damian West, both of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren; five sisters, Pearl Rutledge of Galesburg, 111., Ruby Seydel and Sadie Kane, both of Iowa City, Mary Bittenger of Indianola and Ann Goodwin of Capitan, N.M.; two brothers, Emil of Columbus, Ga. and John of Iowa City; and many nieces and nephews. His parents, six brothers and sisters and one daughter died earlier.
